# Cormorant2026 Mid-conference Excursion

The mid-conference excursion will take place on Thursday 5 February 2026. We leave soon after 11:00 hr. We will have a lunch packet, coffee and dinner during the excursion. We will return to the university campus around 22:00 hr.

The excursion will focus on the most important Cormorant and waterbird wintering sites located in North Bohemia (North of Prague). We will visit a flooded former mining area, i.e. Lake Most and the Labe (Elbe) River between Roudnice nad Labem and Mělník towns. The exact locations of stops along the Labe River will be selected based on the actual occurrence of birds, road accessibility, etc. The expected waterbird species include Great Cormorants, geese, ducks, Coot, gulls, and other species.

We will travel through the Central Bohemian Uplands, which are characterized by numerous isolated volcanic hills. The highest visible peak is Milešovka (837 m above sea level).

We will have coffee at the first stop on Lake Most. The final stop of the excursion will be in a local winery on the edge of Mělnik town, where food will be served and drinks will be available.

We will walk on a paved road. It is recommended to bring warm cloth and boots.
